Toyota Land Cruiser will stop production?
Jakarta (ANTARA) – Recently, news has emerged regarding the cessation of production of Toyota’s iconic vehicle, the Land Cruiser, in the United States market, The Drive reported on Monday.
This news is still confusing but is believed to come true, because in the US market where the trend for trucks and SUVs is increasingly skyrocketing, the Toyota Land Cruiser has failed to break sales of 4,000 units a year in that country since 2006.
Furthermore, General Manager of Ed Martin Toyota in Indianapolis, Eric Sarjeant, claimed that the Land Cruiser 200-Series would soon be withdrawn from the United States. The news was then posted on the IH8Mud Forum, a popular place for Land Cruiser owners.

Although that’s bad news for fans off-road, this makes sense from a business perspective. Toyota already sells essentially the same truck below the Lexus LX, and the price is much higher if the options add up. Despite these additional costs, the LX outsells the admittedly still expensive Land Cruiser every year.
It remains unclear whether the truck will continue to be sold in markets such as Australia, Asia and the Middle East, where the vehicle is sold in much higher volumes than the US.
For example, the Land Cruiser only sold 3,222 units in the US in 2018 but sold 42,267 units in the same year in Australia.
Despite the sound business sense to end truck sales in the US, it’s quite unfortunate because the Toyota Land Cruiser has been in continuous existence in the US for more than half a century.
It is said that the LX is powered by a six-cylinder-turbocharged will be present, but there is still no official confirmation about it. Toyota still has not provided further comment.
